Privacy Policy.
GEM Content Engine is privacy-first by design. The product runs in your browser. We have no server. We never see your work. This page documents exactly what data flows where, and what doesn't.
Plain-English summary
You can read GEM Content Engine without giving us anything. You can use the product (gem.html) entirely on your own computer with no data ever leaving it. If you choose to buy the product, our checkout partner (Gumroad or Lemon Squeezy, depending on your region) collects what they need to charge your card. If you choose to use a cloud AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter), your prompts go directly from your browser to that provider, and we never see them. We don't run our own analytics, we don't sell data, and we don't profile you.
Who runs this site
The site at thegeminfo.com and the product known as GEM Content Engine are operated by the GEM Content Engine team ("we," "us," "the operator"). For privacy questions, email privacy@thegeminfo.com.
Data inside the GEM product (gem.html)
The GEM product is a single HTML file that runs in your browser. By design, it has no backend owned by us. Here's where every piece of data lives:
- Channel configurations, brand kits, content history, calendar entries, tone presets. Stored in your browser's local storage (
localStorage/IndexedDB). Never transmitted to us. - Prompts sent to the AI provider you chose. If you select Ollama, they stay on your machine. If you select OpenAI, Anthropic, or OpenRouter, they go directly from your browser to that provider over HTTPS. We are not an intermediary.
- API keys. If you paste a cloud provider's API key, it lives in your browser's local storage and is sent only to that provider. We cannot read it.
- Generated content, scripts, image prompts, video prompts. Stored locally. Exported to JSON or PDF entirely client-side.
- Saved
.gem.jsonfiles. Created on your filesystem when you export. They never traverse our infrastructure.
Privacy promise. In Ollama mode, the only network calls the product makes are between your browser and your local Ollama instance at http://localhost:11434. In cloud mode, the only outbound calls are to the provider you explicitly configured. There is no telemetry, no analytics ping, and no "phone home" in either mode.
Data on the marketing site (thegeminfo.com)
The marketing site is a static set of HTML pages. We log only what any web server logs: your IP address, user agent, and the page you requested, retained for security and abuse prevention. We do not currently run a custom analytics platform. If we add one later (for example, a privacy-respecting tool like Plausible or a self-hosted alternative), we will update this page and disclose the change in the footer.
Cookies and similar technologies
The marketing site itself sets no first-party cookies for tracking. We use localStorage inside the product to remember your settings between sessions, but those values never leave your device.
If you visit pages that embed third-party widgets (such as a Gumroad checkout button), those embeds may set their own cookies. See Third-party services below.
Advertising & Google AdSense
If, in the future, we run Google AdSense or similar advertising on the marketing site to support free educational content, those ads may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and personalize ads based on prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You may also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized ads at aboutads.info.
- For GDPR / UK GDPR users, ad partners participating in the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework will request your explicit consent before processing personal data for personalized ads.
Until we explicitly enable ads (with a banner update on this page), no ad cookies are set by us.
Third-party services
These services may receive your data when you actively choose to interact with them:
- Gumroad (or Lemon Squeezy). Payment processing for the Founder's Edition. They collect name, email, billing address, and payment details. Read their respective privacy policies.
- OpenAI / Anthropic / OpenRouter. Only if you choose cloud mode in the product and paste an API key. Your prompts go directly from your browser to the provider you chose.
- Ollama. Runs locally on your computer. Does not transmit data to ollama.ai.
- Google Fonts. The marketing site loads Inter, Playfair Display, and JetBrains Mono from fonts.googleapis.com. Google may log a font request with your IP. We do this because the brand depends on these typefaces.
- Google AdSense. Only if we enable advertising in the future (see above).
- Google Search Console / Bing Webmaster. We may verify ownership of the domain to monitor search performance. These tools see aggregate search data, not individual visitor data.
Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you have the right to:
- Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you (we likely hold nothing, since we don't run our own database).
- Request correction or deletion of that data.
- Object to processing or withdraw consent at any time.
- For California residents specifically: opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising).
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@thegeminfo.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Children's privacy
GEM Content Engine is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA / UK). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention
We retain server access logs for up to 90 days for security and abuse prevention, then delete them. We have no other database that retains personal data. Your purchase records are retained by Gumroad / Lemon Squeezy per their policies (typically 7 years for tax purposes).
Security
The marketing site is served over HTTPS. The product runs in your browser sandbox and stores data only in localStorage / IndexedDB, which is isolated per-origin by the browser. We never see, transmit, or store your prompts or generated content. For Founder's Edition purchases, payment processing is handled by Gumroad / Lemon Squeezy, who are PCI-compliant.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and surface the change on the homepage for at least 30 days. For substantive changes that affect existing buyers, we will also email the address you used at purchase.
